How to Transfer Your Agreement to a New Buyer

Selling your home? Here's everything you need to know about transferring your agreement to the new buyer.

10–30 business days
5 steps
Credit approval required

What is a Agreement Assumption?

A assumption allows the buyer of your home to take over your existing agreement — including the remaining term, monthly payment, and original contract terms.

Instead of paying off the system, the agreement simply transfers to the new homeowner. Once completed and approved, you are released from future responsibility.

When is a Assumption Required?

A assumption is needed if:

You are selling your home
Your agreement is still active
You do not plan to prepay or purchase the system

Real Example

A seller has a 20-year agreement with 12 years remaining at $120/month.

Buyer qualifies — Buyer takes over the $120/month payment for the remaining 12 years. Seller is fully released once assumption is complete.

Attention: Title Agents & Real Estate Professionals

If you are a title agent or real estate professional assisting with this transaction, please make sure to send the Customer Approval / Release of Information Form before submitting any request. This form is required in order for us to share account details and process the assumption.

How the Process Works
01

Request the Assumption

The current homeowner contacts us to begin the transfer process.

Your account must be current with no past-due balance before the process can begin. We recommend starting as early as possible during the home sale.
02

Buyer Submits an Application

The homebuyer will need to complete the following:

Complete a credit application
Provide required identification
Sign assumption documents
03

Review and Approval

We review the buyer's application to confirm they meet eligibility requirements. This includes:

Credit review and approval
Confirmation that the system is active and in good standing
No open service or billing issues

If Approved

Transfer documents are prepared and sent for signing.

If Not Approved

Other options may include prepayment or system purchase.

04

Sign Transfer Documents

Once approved, both parties sign the required transfer documents, which include:

Assumption Agreement
Transfer Acknowledgment
Updated Billing Authorization
05

Account Transfer Complete

Once all documents are finalized:

Billing transfers to the new homeowner
Original homeowner is released from the agreement
Buyer continues the remaining term under the original contract

How Long Does It Take?

Most assumptions take 10–30 business days, depending on:

How quickly the buyer submits their application
Credit review timelines
Completion of required documents
Start Early! It's important to provide as much notice as possible. If you plan to sell your home, please let us know as soon as possible — we are here to help make this process smooth!
Processing Fee

Is There a Processing Fee?

A processing fee is required after document submission and approval in order to proceed with the assumption.

The fee amount will be disclosed during the process. Please contact our support team for details.

Important to Know
The contract terms do not reset — the buyer takes over the remaining term at the same conditions.
Monthly payments remain the same unless your contract includes scheduled escalators.
The system warranty and production guarantees typically remain active for the new homeowner.
If the buyer does not qualify, other options may include prepayment or system purchase.
