Refinance Process
Everything you need to know about refinancing when you have an active Skylight Lending agreement.
Up to 7 business days
Processing fee required
What is the UCC?
A UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) filing is a standard notice that Skylight Lending is required to file in the property records to indicate our interest in the solar equipment installed at your home.
Important: The UCC is not a lien on your home. It is simply a public record filing that identifies the solar equipment as being subject to a financing agreement — it does not affect your home's title or your ability to sell.
However, some lenders may require the UCC to be temporarily removed or subordinated as part of a refinance. If that is the case, we are here to help.
The information below outlines the refinance process that applies to loan agreements. Please follow the steps to get started.
If you have a lease agreement, please contact us directly and our team will guide you through the process specific to your account.
Attention: Title Agents & Real Estate Professionals
If you are a title agent or real estate professional assisting with this transaction, please make sure to send the Customer Approval / Release of Information Form before submitting any request. This form is required in order for us to share account details and process the refinance.
01
Reach out to our support team to let us know you are planning to refinance. We will confirm your account status and explain the next steps specific to your agreement.
02
A processing fee is required to proceed with the temporary UCC removal. The fee amount will be disclosed when you contact us.
The process will begin once the processing fee has been received and cleared. Please allow up to 7 business days from that point for completion.
03
Provide Your Refinance Date
Once the fee has been processed, please let us know the scheduled date of your refinance so we can coordinate the timing of the UCC removal appropriately.
04
Once all steps are complete, the UCC will be temporarily removed to allow your refinance to proceed. After the refinance is finalized, the UCC filing will be reinstated as required by your agreement.
Consider Paying Down Your Balance
If your refinance generates additional cash, we encourage you to consider using it to pay down your account balance. This may help reduce your overall obligations over time. We would be happy to assist you with this — just let us know if you're interested!
The UCC is not a lien on your home — it only relates to the solar equipment.
The process takes up to 7 business days after the processing fee is received and cleared.
The UCC filing will be reinstated after your refinance is finalized, as required by your agreement.
We recommend starting early — contact us as soon as you know your refinance date to avoid any delays.
Start Early! It's important to provide as much notice as possible. If you plan to refinance your home, please let us know as soon as possible — we are here to help make this process smooth!
